High Tech High School Recognized for Transition and Career Planning

LAKE BALBOA, CA—High Tech High School in Los Angeles was recently given a cash award from Student Paths, a national organization that helps students prepare for life after high school.  Honored for their work to prepare young people for post-secondary education and the workforce, High Tech High was one of nine southern California schools recognized and given a $200 award for the 2006-2007 academic year.

“A number of public and private schools have less money available for indirect educational services such as career and guidance counseling.  Our organization not only strives to help students get a better sense of who they are and what that means when considering options after high school, but we also play a small role in helping schools with tight budgets enhance related services,” said Student Paths Founder, Chris Wills. “Every little bit helps and we congratulate the faculty and staff of High Tech High School for doing more to increase the chance of success and fulfillment for their students after high school.”

Over 75 percent of High Tech High students worked with the Student Paths program last year and approximately 215,000 students in more than 550 California high schools currently use Student Paths materials.
